What’s new in the studio

GOONS ships in the browser, so there is nothing to download and nothing to update — you already have the latest version. Here is what changed, release by release, over the last six months.

Instrument Overhaul

The instruments got the attention this time: a turntable rebuilt from the ground up, four drum apps merged into one, and a long list of audio bugs that had been getting in the way of playing.

  • New Scratch Master is now a real turntable — brushed metal deck, strobe rim, grooved slipmat, conical GOONS label and a tonearm that drops onto the record.  Open
  • New Drumpad becomes the single drum and sampling app: Beat Maker, Finger Drumming Pad, Drumpad Classic, Drumpad New, Sampler Drumpad and Sampler Slicer are all merged into it. Old links redirect, saved projects follow.  Open
  • Improved The chopper engine from Sampler Slicer now lives inside Drumpad: clean slice points, auto-slice and transient detection, keyboard triggering, plus real WAV and MIDI export.  Open
  • Improved Modern Piano: the spectrum analyser is now logarithmic (30 Hz → 16 kHz), so a chord fills the display instead of piling up on the left. The waveform gained adaptive gain and a peak hold.  Open
  • Improved Theremin adapts to small screens and responds to the accelerometer on mobile.  Open
  • Fixed Kaoss Matrix Pro no longer emits a continuous tone when the app opens.  Open
  • Fixed Vocoder no longer gets stuck on the "activate microphone" screen.  Open
  • Fixed Voice Sampler asks for the microphone through the browser prompt instead of a dead-end warning.  Open
  • Fixed Trap Machine Pro loads a default preset on arrival, and the dropdown shows which one is playing.  Open
  • Fixed Universe no longer slides underneath the fixed header.  Open
v2.5

A New Face

A full pass on the interface: a homepage built around playing an instrument in the first screen, one icon set across the whole product, and system pop-ups that finally look like they belong.

  • New New homepage hero — "Play a real studio instrument. Right now." — with the Instrument Lab playable straight from the first screen.  Open
  • New Animated instrument logos on the app cards, drawn from one shared SVG icon set stored with the app catalog.
  • Improved Universal header: Apps renamed Music Apps, an Audio Command Center entry, the current section highlighted, and a Hide header button for when the instrument needs the room.
  • Improved Every system dialog and notification now goes through a single component — no more browser alerts, no more "dashboard ready" pop-up on arrival.
  • Improved The full footer from the app pages is now used site-wide, with the guides, the app list and the Instagram account.
  • Fixed The green dot in the studio sidebar only lights up when the app is actually live in the Mixer.
v2.4

Found Online

Everything that makes the studio findable: a public page per instrument, written guides, and the measurement needed to know which of them actually bring people in.

  • New A public page for every instrument at /play, each with a playable demo and a deep link into the full app.  Open
  • New Guides and topic pages — web DAW, beat making, online synthesizer, making music anywhere.  Open
  • New Generated sitemap, robots.txt and per-app social preview images.  Open
  • Improved Structured data across the marketing pages (Organization, Product, FAQ, breadcrumbs) so search engines read the catalog correctly.
  • Improved Analytics rebuilt on GA4 with server-side purchase tracking, so subscription revenue is counted once and correctly.
v2.3

Ultra Sample Library

The sample side of the studio grew up: one library, searchable, previewable, and reachable from wherever you happen to be working.

  • New Ultra Sample Library — 5000+ samples with waveform preview, search and one-click load into the apps.  Open
  • New A library preview section on the homepage, built from the same component as the dedicated page.  Open
  • Improved Studio sidebar reorganised: Samples renamed Sounds, the Ultra Library moved in next to the Music Library, and the Music Player listed alongside them.  Open
  • Fixed Several 808 sounds that failed to load (808 Bass F#m Exclusives 002, 808 Bass C#m Exclusives 003 and others) now play.
  • Fixed Library layout on narrow screens — the content no longer runs past the bottom of the sidebar.
v2.2

Routing & Recording

The apps stopped being islands. Open two of them and they show up in the same mixer, share the same effects rack, and record to the same place.

  • New Apps broadcast themselves to the Mixer as they start — open an instrument in a tab and its channel appears, ready to level and mute.  Open
  • New Effects Processor: a shared FX bus and chain that can process one app or everything at once.  Open
  • New One recorder for the whole studio, in the header — it captures the audio along with the performance and the app settings.
  • Improved A single master bus contract across the apps, which is what makes the header volume, the waveform and the REC button work everywhere.
  • Improved Audio Status dashboard reorganised — no duplicated panels, no arrival pop-up.  Open
v2.1

Accounts & Access

One place decides what an account can reach, one price to unlock the studio, and a sign-in flow that lands where it should.

  • New A single access layer for the whole site — guest, free, PRO and admin — instead of four places computing it differently.
  • New Simple pricing: €9.90 per month or €90 per year, with a 7-day trial and no card to start.  Open
  • New Stripe customer portal — change card, switch plan or cancel without going through support.
  • Improved Signing in with Google now lands you inside the studio, signed in.  Open
  • Improved Account settings: first and last name are editable.  Open
  • Fixed Demo and premium accounts no longer hit the PRO paywall inside the studio.  Open
  • Fixed Fixed a caching issue that could hand a visitor another visitor's session.
